Jonathan Monks

Jonathan began his journey into yoga aged fifteen, teaching himself from various Sivananda and Iyengar books. He then moved on to ‘power’ yoga and Astanga from the age of twenty.

He continued a daily practice throughout his career as a singer, saxophonist and composer and began his yoga teaching career just before his 30th birthday. He has taught internationally in conferences and created two schools dedicated to his style of practice. Seven years ago, he chose to dedicate all his time to realising his goal of becoming “effortlessly upright”. The principals he has used happen to coincide with those found in the yoga tradition, though they do not look exactly the same in practice.

His influences include time studying with various masters such Kriyaji (Yoga) and Mark Raudva (Tai Chi) alongside other influences, including training in Structural Integration (often called ‘Rolfing’) and offering sacra-cranial-like energetic based treatments.

Jonathan’s practice has a beautiful balance of Yin and Yang, complimented by the living knowledge of how to create a truly stable structure. Jon (as his friends call him!) also knows, sees and can offer insights into how the eight limbs of Patanjali are mirrored in the attitude of posture and how the body moves. His teaching emphasises philosophy alongside a practical method and his aim is to show how consciously merging mind and body can help unlock greater freedom in everything one does!

Joachim Hilderson

Joachim Hilderson is a mobility coach. He works mostly online, but doesn’t shy away from giving workshops or PT’s. He prefers learning by way of practical, hands-on experience rather than getting his sauce from books. He’s a student of the game first and a teacher second.

Joachim developed an interest in mobility training around the age of 30 and had an extensive background in bodybuilding before that. This start at a later age was quite the struggle for him, and still is, but that’s what makes him a good coach.

He can relate to his student’s struggles, as not long ago their struggles were his struggles. Being fortunate enough to  have worked with a large number of students over the last years, and thus being exposed to people of all levels, body types and back grounds made him understand this mobility thing even better.

Ever curious, he strives to never stop learning about this weird thing we call the body. See more...
